Iptc.CaptionSoule is the name for a leather bag filled with wood-chips. This ancient game dating back to the middle ages was practised between neighbouring villages. Today young people gather for weekends of soule playing in villages of south west france. The rules are simple and straighforward: two teams are opposed on a playing field composed of any country terrain with a river; the soule is thrown in the river, the teams must carry it through three "goals" dispersed in the countryside and bring it back to the starting point. The game can last a whole afternoon depending on the ability of each team to keep possession of the soule. "Soule! we play we win and we don't give a damn!" is the motto of the game.
